Permits officers of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation to be compensated at a rate in excess of that prescribed by Level I of the Executive Schedule if the Board determines with respect to a specific portion that a higher level of compensation is necessary, and is not in excess of the general level of compensation paid officers of railroads in positions of comparable responsibility. Increases to $597,300, (presently $534,300,000) the total amount of authorized appropriations available for the benefit of the Corporation.
